My real name is Justyna Kowalska but you can call me Sirena. I am Ocean Artist, Mermaid & Tourquise Energy Healer.
Usually I am drifting between the Atlantic Ocean (La Palma Island, Spain) and the Mediterranian Sea (Sicily, Italy) but now you can find me in the rivers of South America. Along the way, I paint and photograph ocean dream scapes, I perform and facilitate art workshops. My art reflects the journey I went to reconnect with Nature and my true self. I experienced kind of shamanic initiation from the Ocean. My mission is to channel and transmit magical energy of the waters and I am doing it not only through art but also through meditations, energy healing sessions and stories I share in the podcast Turkusowe Poranki (in Polish, my native language).
I am co-founder of two artistic collective: polish Sisters in Arts and International ritual-creative group Portales de Vision.
BIO
Sirena [born Justyna Kowalska] is a Polish mixed media painter and photographer obsessed with the Ocean. She is theoretically based in Krakow (Poland), but rather you will find her creating on La Palma Island in Spain or Sicily (Italy). After graduating from AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków in 2008, she worked as a director, actress, and playwright for national stages; she was also a screenwriter in polish radio and television. In 2018 she took a sabbatical to recover from burnout and depression. The journey around the Canary Islands led to the spiritual and artistic transition. Through art, Sirena is exploring the topic of reconnection with Nature and dreams. She paints abstract seascapes with the use of organic materials (sand, sticks, dried plants). In photography, Sirena focuses on poetic landscapes and mythological self-portraits. As a former stage artist she still enjoys to perform from time to time. She is a part of two art collectives: Sisters in Arts and Portales De Vision.
My art studio is in Nature.
Paintings
I start to paint on the beach; I listen to the Ocean and let the wind to mix the sand with acrylic paint. I continue in the garden; the gifts of the Earth like stones, sticks or dried cactuses become also the part of my abstract seascapes. Sometimes I add my photos , yarn and various recycled materials.
Photography
I photograph Ocean, Sea and mythological self-portraits in scenography designed by Nature. I don’t use advanced cameras but light and easy to carry smartphone. At home, I manipulate photography with digital applications, sometimes blending with my paintings.
Performance
As a former theatre artist, I still use my theatrical background to create performances. They incorporate music and live painting sessions. They are meditative and little bit psychedelic.
Workshops
I created very relaxing workshops based on meditation, meditative dance and intuitive painting. I help to reconnect withe inner artist.
